Sushil Kumar wins bronze medal

After Abhinav Bindra ,it was the time for Sushil kumar to make the country proud .Sushil Kumar won the bronze medal after beating Kazakhstan's wrestler in a play-off in the men's 66 kg freestyle wrestling through repechage round at the Beijing Olympics. Earlier, India's ace freestyle grappler Sushil Kumar lost ion the first round to Ukraine’s Andriy Stadnik in the men's 66 kg freestyle event. Stadnik started of well as he earned the first point while Sushil levelled it soon but the tough Ukrainian took the lead again as he led the first round 2-1. Stadnik strengthened his lead by scoring quick six points in the second round while Sushil didn't even score a lone point against his mighty Ukrainian opponent. Eventually Sushil made it to the Olympics after making it to the quarter-finals of the World wrestling championship, where he lost to Stadnik from a convincing margin of 4-15.

Abhinav Bindra creates History

Abhinav Bindra has created history by winning the first solo gold medal in Olympics for India .World champion Abhinav Bindra clinched India's first ever individual gold medal at the Olympics, winning 10m air rifle event at the Beijing Games in Beijing on Monday.
The 25-year-old, who qualified fourth for the event, shot an overall score of (596+140.5) 700.5 in a thrilling finale which went right down to the last shot.

So what are the predictions !!!

Last time i predicted Portugal to beat Germany and it went wrong .Though this time i feel that there wont be any surprises in the semifinals .Spain and Germany should reach the finals ,but you should never stop expecting those unexpected results from them .Germany will play against the inspirational Turkey ,who is playing for National pride and honor whereas Spain will play the tactical team of Russia in the supervision of Guus Hiddink's experience .

Spain vs Russia

This can be a thriller .
Russia got to the Semi-finals after a stunning 3-1 won over the heavily favored Dutch side. Roman Pavluchenko banged in the first goal only to be countered by Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s goal in the 86th minute to send the match into extra time. Dmitri Torbinski and Andrei Arshavin scored in the second half of extra time as the Dutch couldn’t wrinkle the back onion bag. Now they look ahead to their match against Spain. The combination of Pavluchenko and Arshavin have netted the Russians five goals and their Coach Guus Hiddink label of “The Wizard.”

But ,the two points of concern for the Russians are, curiously enough, set-pieces and generally taking their chances in front of goal. Hiddink's teams of old would more typically have honed these abilities first and foremost, but the free-spiritedness of the Russians exposes a degree of naivety that can be exploited. Exploitation was the Netherlands' specialty in their wins over Italy and France, but the eight days' rest for much of the team perhaps dampened the red-hot high those two wins had put them on.

After resting his squad for the meaningless game against Greece, coach Luis Aragones lined up his strongest team, with tournament top scorer David Villa playing alongside Fernando Torres in attack, but they still couldn’t produce any goals. They’ll have to do a lot better against the goal happy Russians. If Spain have trouble scoring they’ll definitely have to neutralize Andrei Arshavin, or else there’s trouble ahead. “Arshavin is a little genius,” says former Russia and Moscow Spartak star Igor Shalimov. “He can do everything, score, create, read the game and change the tempo, make fast breaks to hurt the opposition, take set pieces and battle for the team. He is so influential.” They’ll have to get David Villa, Fernando Torres, David Silva and Sergio Garcia rolling on offense, apply pressure to their defense. Spain can’t sit back and wait for the other side to make a mistake. The semi-final with Russia will be a totally different type of game, much more open. The Russians are like us, they are attack-conscious and we will need to circulate the ball.”

GERMANY vs TURKEY

After an indifferent start to their Euro campaign Germany are back on track to bag the coveted Henri Delaunay Trophy. Confidence will be high in the German camp after the convincing quarterfinal victory over the Portuguese. Germany looked solid with a disciplined backline and were quite impressive with their passing. With German skipper Michael Ballack hitting top gear and hit man Miroslav Klose breaking his goal scoring duck, Coach Joachim Loew will be convinced that his men will make it to the finals. Positive news for the Germans will be the return of Torsten Frings who was ruled out after a fractured rib.

Turkey will need another miracle to reach the final of a major tournament for the first time, especially with forward Arda Turan and midfielder Tuncay Sanli suspended and star striker Nihat Kahveci out with a thigh injury. Brazilian-born midfielder Mehmet Aurelio will return from suspension.Since it can use any help it can, Turkey was glad for some inside information. Hamit Altintop plays for Bayern Munich, as do five players from the German team.

Coach Fatih Terim will be urging his men to showcase their “Never say die attitude” in the semis as well. Turkey face the prospect of having just 13 outfield players available for their Euro 2008 semi-clash. The Turks were without six players when they beat Croatia 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out in the quarter-finals and lost further three - Tuncay Sanli, Arda Turan and Emre Asik - to suspension.

A Dutchman outplays other dutchmen

Guus Hiddink proved today that why he is considered as one of the best in his business .Nobody expected Russia to beat such a strong Netherland side ,but the way Russians approached their game was just marvellous.The veteran coach taught Van Basten a lesson when the man who took the Netherlands to the World Cup semifinals 10 years ago led his young Russian team into the last four of Euro 2008.This modest Dutchman is such a firm believer in the traditional way his country plays football that he tries to pass it on to the teams he coaches, from Madrid to Seoul to Moscow.Without a single element of self-praise, he truly believes that his Russian team played better football than the Dutch .

It was a shock exit for the Netherland's side ,but after the match was over ,it was clear that the Russian team was the deserving one .They outclassed the Dutch in scoring department as Netherland failed to create the magic they have been creating in the tournament .Russia beat the strongly favored Dutch 3-1 after extra time in Basel, Switzerland, in a game that was simply made in the Netherlands, despite the three Russian scorers.Although Ruud van Nistelrooy's 86th-minute headed equalizer forced the game into 30 minutes of extra time, Russia resumed its control against a tiring Dutch side and ran out clear winners to hand Hiddink, one of football's most inspirational and successful figures, a first major triumph over his former team.
It was in the extra time when everybody get to realize the importance of having the youngest side in the tournament.Hiddink has taught these young Russians how to move the ball entertainingly but effectively through the midfield and provide possession to forwards who go straight for goal. It's the sort of football the Dutch have been playing for decades, though with less success than they deserve.

Netherland came to the quarterfinals in the most convincing way defeating world champions Italy (3-0) and Runners-up France(4-1) .Apart from beating them ,it was the way the have beaten those big teams was the matter of discussion.They have some top quality strikers and all of them were in an excellent form .Going into the quarters with such a high spirit and confidence was a dream come true for the Dutchmen .Coach Van Basten ,former AC Milan Striker and the man who scored that deciding goal in 1988 EUROs final against Soviet Union which made them the champion of Europe was confident of his team's performance going into the quarters .But he always knew that there is definitely something in store for his side from Guus Hiddink .Earlier Croatia suffered a shocking loss to Turkey and now it was Holland's time to face the heat .

So whats next ??

You never know Russia might come up with another surprise in the semi-Final and if it happens ,the Dutch people should be proud of having such an exceptionally talented "TRAITOR" they have with them .So ,lets wait and watch whether Hiddink can create a magic again .

EURO 2008 QUATERFINALS -TIME FOR SOME SERIOUS FOOTBALL

So, finally the first round of EURO 2008 is over and we have got some unexpected results ,but that was expected at this stage .France was probably the biggest team to be knocked out and Greece was thrown out of the competition as they lost all three league matches .Czech Republic crashed out of the competition by some great football by Turkey in the late minutes .Turkey in quarterfinals might have surprised some of the experts but everybody expected something special like this from them .
So let us see what we have in the first round of quarterfinals for us .

PORTUGAl Vs GERMANY

Quarterfinals begin with last time's runner-up Portugal against struggling Germany .Seeing the current form ,Portugal are the favourites ,but you can never write Germany off .With inspirational Captain Ballack and the amount of experience they have ,they can be a very dangerous team .Both the teams have great goalkeepers .Though Lehman is a bit unpredictable ,but he has proved his class when it matters (Saving crucial penalties against Argentina in the last world cup was the latest example ) On the other hand Ricardo is one of the best in the world and germany's strikers will feel this .

DEFENCE

There is hardly anything to choose between them .With Portugal ,you have the Chelsea defence Line-up with Ricardo Carvalho ,Paulo Ferreira and Boswinga .Extremely difficult to get through them .And at the same time they have a tendency to move forward giving the mid fielders support .With Germany you have Per Mertesacker, Cristoph Metzelder and the extremely talented young Philipp Lahm .Lahm is defender by name ,but when he gets the ball and space ,he seems like a world class mid fielder .He is definitely one of the world's most talented fullbacks

MIDFIELD

Bastian Schweinsteiger ,Michael Ballack,Torsten Frings--You cant get better than this .Germany has an edge in midfield with the charismatic Ballack with them and if he sets himself early ,it caan be a nightmare for the portugese defence .

Whereas in portugal ,Petit and Joao Moutinho along with the Deco (the Barcelona star ) have a formidable line-up.Deco is one of the most talent play maker .His unexpected long rangers can destroy the opposition any moment .He can handle the midfield alone to make goals for his strikers and Germany is aware of this .

FORWARD

The only difference between the team comes here because they have somebody named "CHRISTIANO RONALDO ".Nobody has ever doubted his talent ,but now over the years he has become mature and it shows in his game.He can score goals from any position and more dangerously he can make goals for others in the team .Nuno Gomes doesn't seem to be in touch and he might not be a threat for the Germans .But you never know ..

For Germany Miroslav Klose is the man to look for .He is an exceptional striker and they will be fully relying on them as Poldolski might not play due to a calf problem .Gomes ,not Nuno but Mario is in a really bad form and might be replaced by somebody like Kevin Kuyrani .

DCE CEE 2008 RESULTS DECLARED

So,finally ur wait is over,DCE CEE 2008 results have been declared (Currently on the notice board and will be coming on internet shortly )

But ,the cutoffs have incresed astonishingly .No body expected a cutoff of around 400 marks for around 1000 rank .Whats the reason ???

I dont think anybody has an answer ,so much increase was not expected and this reminds me of my time when i sat for my CEE 2005 .

I hope u know what happened that year ,and the admission process was even challenged in high-court .I hope this time DCE will live upto its name and there's no conspiracy behind the scores and the cutoffs ,otherwise it will again seriously affect its image .

AIEEE COUNSELLING 2008

Just to inform all the students that there has been an important change in rule of central counselling (AIEEE 2008) this year . Earlier ,50% seats were allotted for their state students (which is still the same) and for the rest 50% ,seats were divided in advance as per each state's requirement . eg : Each NIT used to have some seats allocated for all states and then according to state rank of their students ,students can apply in counselling ..

But this time rule 2 has been changed and remaining 50% seats will be allocated as per all india merit .

Admissions in NITs – State and All India eligibility

According to the Communication No. F-23-12/2008 TS III dated June 9, 2008 and the
subsequent Corrigendum No. F-23-12/2008 TS III dated June 13, 2008, issued by the
Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, for filling up seats in NITs
amongst the candidates declared eligible for counseling, on the basis of results of
AIEEE conducted by CBSE, the seats in the NITs shall be filled up with following
criteria:

(i) 50% of the seats in an NIT shall be filled by the eligible candidates who
have passed +2 examination from the State in which the NIT is situated. For
example, in NIT Agartala 50% seats shall be filled by the eligible
candidates who have passed their +2 examination from Tripura.

(ii) Admission in NITs for rest 50% seats would be on All India Merit basis.
For these seats candidates would be admitted from amongst All India rank
holders in AIEEE.

DCE CEE 2008 RESULTS DELAYED

DCE CEE 2008 results have been delayed as it was earlier announced earlier that it will be declared within 14 days .In addition to this,even the counselling of AIEEE has also been postponed for an indefinite period .This all has created a bit of panic among the students .This might be the effect of the government announcing OBC quotas and thus colleges are finding it difficult to decide how to increase the number of seats for the general quota .

DCE results are now expected to be released till Tuesday(17th) and the the counselling forms for the next stage will be available from Wednesday (18th) .

CUT-OFF ???

Ya ,this is the next big question. I think it will might increase by a small margin (5-10 marks ) as the paper was slightly easy .Considering the incresed intake of IITs ,the good news is that the candidates might get a seat in DCE even at a lower rank compared to last year cut-off rank.

So,dont be impatient .Its a matter of couple of days .Your wait is almost over .

Great day for all Spanish football lovers. Crushing Russia was never a big thing for them ,but the way it was executed is definitely a matter of praise for the spanish team .The whole team was involved in this comprehensive win and Spain started their EURO campaign on a high .Spain has the class but has unable to deliver in such big platforms from a long time.Hence they are in pressure to perform well but yesterday's match showed that they cant be taken lightly by any of the big teams .Yesterday's win will be a big boost for them in the tournament .

It was not a great start as Russia started positively in the starting minutes but they were never comprehensive about their finish in attack .David Villa was the star of the show in Innsbruck, earning himself the man of the match award with a hat-trick, before Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas wrapped up the scoring in injury-time after Russia had pulled a goal back through Roman Pavluchenko.

Spain wasted a number of openings to win by an even bigger margin and the standard of their performance would suggest a place in the quarter-finals is well within reach.
In Villa and Torres they appear to possess a forward partnership to match any at the tournament and the array of creative midfielders at Luis Aragones's disposal should ensure a regular supply line. Torres and Villa looked in menacing form from the outset and inside 10 minutes the strikers each had a decent sight of goal but produced weak finishes.
At the other end, Russia were working the channels well and Dmitry Sychev squared from the right for Igor Semshov to fire wide under a timely challenge from Villarreal's Joan Capdevila.

It was a great play by the spanish strikers ,Fabregas was also good proving he can repeat his club performance for his national team also .Lets hope spain continue their form and go much further in the tournament ....

When we talk about important players,we generally think of the famous strikers and mid-fielders who take away all the glamour by scoring goals and we forget the importance of goalkeepers who are one of the most important mem bers of their teams . A team cannot succeed without having a class goalkeeper no matter how good their defence is .At the end of the day ,its up to the goalkeeper to save goals for his team and we get to know their importance only when they save penalties .

So let us get an overview of some of the important goalkeepers who are playing in this edition of EURO 2008 :-

Edwin van der Sar (Netherland)

Edwin van der Sar has an important contribution in the success of the Manchester United and has been an inportant member of the team since he has joined the club . He is the most experienced player of Netherland ever with 125 caps and hence carries a huge amount of experience with him .That also puts him in the top sixty most capped players of all time. As captain of the Netherlands, he broke Frank de Boer's record in the 2006 World Cup second round match against Portugal . Holland success depends very much on Van der sar and everybody know that he is very much talented to prove his class (that also for probably the last time in his international career )

Iker Casillas is currently the first choice goalkeeper for Real Madrid and the Spanish national team. He is the captain of the Spanish national team, as well as one of the vice-captains of Real Madrid. Casillas is currently the second-most capped goalkeeper in the history of the Spanish national team, behind Andoni Zubizarreta, who appeared in 126 matches for Spain during his career,but is expected to beat his record as he is just 27 now .

Its a platform for all those young players knocking their door at the international level and to come in the limelight of all the viewers by showing their talent .Many stars are born in each edition of EURO and so many are expected this time also .

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
What to say about this man? Few can dispute that the title "Best Player in the World" is going to waste on Ronny.
The Manchester United starlet is improving year by year, game by game, adding something new to his array of talents all the time.
He is blessed with it all: Blinding pace, strong upper body, capable of shooting with both feet, a unique free kick, and, as proven in the Champions League final, fantastic in the air too.
Some say he doesn't turn up in big games; well, this is Ronaldo's chance to prove all the critics wrong once again.
After 42 goals this season, no one can argue that all eyes are on him to continue his fantastic club form into Euro 2008 and cement his place among the greats.
With 20 goals in 54 appearances for Portugal, expect him to be a firm favourite for the Golden Boot to add to every other award he has swept in this season. At least Rooney won't be about for any more "winking" incidents...

Karim Benzema (France)
French football star of Algerian descent is always going to be compared to the legendary Zidane. However, Benzema is hewn from different stock. A tall and agile striker, the Lyon youngster has burst onto the international scene over the past year with a series of impressive performances for club and country.
The top scorer in Ligue 1 this season, Benzema has been attracting attention from across Europe, although has repeatedly pledged his future to Les Gones. Fast, and with a great eye for goal, he can also play on the wings, which is a versatility that Thierry Henry, Nicolas Anelka and Djibril Cisse also possess.
The new generation of French striker, Benzema will surely get his chance to impress alongside the likes of Henry after his goal-filled season with Lyon. If he can learn from the experience, then he will have the world at his feet after the tournament is over.

Cesc Fabregas (Spain)
The Arsenal playmaker is now regarded as one of the best players in the world and has been put in amongst the band of players with a world-class tag on their heads despite being only 21 years old. He is now so in demand and so high profile that he has even been given his own television show! There is one stage however where Fabregas hasn't proved himself yet and that is at a major International Tournament. This summers tournament could be where Cesc Fabregas puts the remaining critics to rest so watch out for the Arsenal starlet as he will be determined to prove just how good he really is.

Fernando Torres (Spain)

Torres will arguably be the most-watched striker at this years competition by both the fans, and defenders. El Nino has had a fantastic debut season in a Liverpool jersey bagging 33 goals including 24 Premier League goals, a new Premier League record for most goals scored in a debut season. His lightning pace, movement and incredible finishing are the traits of all great strikers and he will be a threat against any team. Defenders beware!

Luka Modric (Croatia)
The Croatian wonderkid signed for Tottenham at the tale end of 2007/2008 Barclays Premier League season so Spurs will be looking forward to seeing the Croat in action at this summers Championship. Having previously played for Dynamo Zagreb, Modric hasn't really featured on the big stage up until now but during Croatia's Euro 2008 qualifying he really proved how good he is. He is a similar player to Cesc Fabregas, he has great vision, equally good in attack and defence and can thread the ball through to the attack with a blindfold on. He will be Croatia's playmaker in the middle of the park.

Samir Nasri (France)
Arsenal are extremely keen on the Marseille attacking midfielder and who can blame them. Nasri, aged just 20, has been often referred to as the "New Zinedine Zidane" and this season has broken onto the global scene. The quick and flamboyant France midfielder is sure to light up the tournament with his dribbling skills this year so Arsenal fans keep an eye on him! He may be heading to the Emirates.

Franck Ribery(France)
Perhaps going unnoticed to a certain extent, Ribery is regarded by many as one of the top-five midfielders in the world. Many say he goes un-noticed because of the lack of coverage and commercialism of the Bundesliga, but one thing is for sure: Ribery is quality.
The French winger, who joined Bayern Munich at the start of last season, drove them to a league and cup double through dazzling displays of speed, passing, and goal scoring. In 26 appearances for the club he has notched 11 goals and also a glut of assists to his name.
With one goal and six assists already in the the qualifiers, he promises to light up the tournament. Named Player of The Year in the Bundesliga, don't be surprised to see his name in the team of the tournament, whether or not France find glory in Euro 2008.

Want to buy an Apple iPhone in India ? Not sure if unlocked iphone works in India.I have given a quick iPhone Guide before you purchase the iPhone from Indian mobile phone dealers.

1. Is the Apple iPhone available in India - Yes. you can easily purchase iPhone phones here.

2. If iPhone is available where can I buy i Phone in India - Apple hasn’t introduced iPhone officially in India but you can grab one from Palika Bazaar of Delhi or Heera Panna shopping complex of Mumbai. Alternatively, some online sites are also selling unlocked iPhone in India. The iPhone was earlier expected to debut in India via Reliance Retail. Most online iPhone suppliers in India do not share their contact address.

The darker side of our Media

Media is probably the strongest force which can reach to the people and can affect their perspective .Media ,in India,has taken a huge responsibility and come up with some of the greatest work .Cases like Jessica Lall murder where it was our media who made the people aware of the situation and caused such a mass appeal for justice .Media forced the higher authorities (police) to take required actions and finally provided justice to Lall family .Same with Priyadarshini Matoo case ,Media has helped a lot.So media is always involved in helping people ,but is it true that the media does all these with only one motive of being helpful .The duo murder case in Noida, took a new turn when police arrested the Aarushi’s parents. It is alleged that Rajesh Talwar was the murderer of his child. All circumstantial evidences said that Rajesh Talwar has killed his daughter. Ever since the 14-year-old was murdered, media made sure that no one missed out on the developments. Well media did its job well. People all over Delhi and, I might not be wrong in saying, people all over India, were glued to the channels, to find out whether the guilty was caught? Whether Aarushi received justice?
Media made sure that people sympathised with the bereaved family. As the investigation of the case by the media progressed, new evidence was brought to light that the deceased child might have had a relation with the servant Hemraj.

Taking this into consideration, by the evening, a news channel flashed an explicit video of Aarushi in a compromising situation. The channel claimed that they received an MMS showing the deceased undressing herself. A hand was also visible in the video clip, which was touching her. The video was aired on the channel for nearly an hour.
Now what did media achieve by flashing such a video? Yes, they might have earned the Target Rating Points (TRPs). For a sudden instance, all people must have switched to the channel. Well is it just for TRPs that a news channel works? Where did the duties of a journalist disappear? The entire point of media is to report and reveal the truth. Well that’s what ethics and norms of journalism say. But in flashing such videos of Aarushi did the media help the police in nabbing the guilty?
The video only shows a hand, other than Aarushi. You have the hand of the ‘might be’ guilty. How about now trying to fix it to different bodies and try to find the killer. Technology helps you know. Respect the dead people. The poor girl already suffered a gruesome end. At least, let her rest in peace. The video does not help in any investigations, except bring disgrace to Aarushi’s name.

Remember your duties as a journalist and know that you should uphold the norms and ethics in life.And please for God's sake ,you better show a lady cobra dancing or reincarnation (punar-janm -what they ) and ghost dancing in the village ,but please dont try to make someone feel more shameful on TV even when they are going through such a condition .

Summer Vacations with Euro 2008

CB series ,then South Africa in India ,then the most hyped (and rightly so) Indian Premier League ,the richest cricket Tournament in the world ,English Premier League(Soccer) with such a close finish and then Champions League .It was a hectic year as a viewer .You cant ask for anything better as a sports lover .But its not over yet ,the most awaited EURO 2008 is yet to come and this prestigious event starts from 7th of june and will see its final on 29th of the same month .
To start with ,a brief introduction for all of you .The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008, will take place in Austria and Switzerland, from 7 June to 29 June 2008. It is the second successful joint bid in the competition's history, following the UEFA Euro 2000 hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands. The 2012 competition in Poland and Ukraine is scheduled to become the third jointly-hosted tournament.

A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament. Austria and Switzerland automatically qualified as hosts; the remaining 14 teams have been determined through qualifying matches which started in August 2006. Austria and Poland will be making their first appearance in the tournament. The winner of Euro 2008 will represent UEFA at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.
Austria is playing Euro for the first time and hence it will be a historical moment for them . Being hosts they will have home advantage ,but it will be very tough for them to play against these world class teams .Teams like germany ,portugal,france,spain,netherland makes this competion hard to predict.It will be tough fight between some of these biggest soccer playing nations.It was hard to believe that England could not qualify for EURO 2008 ,otherwise it would have been more competitive .
EURO is played every 4 years and last time it was played in 2004 in Portugal where Greece became the champions defeating the hosts in the final .Milan Baros was the highest scorer (5 goals) and Theodoros Zagorakis,the Greece captain was declared the player of the tournament for his fantastic display of football (defending) which helped Greece win the title .
Iam supporting France this time as some of my favourite players are there and i hope they come out with good display of their capabilities.Rest as i said ,the competion is so tough that you cant predict whose gonna win this .So my Vacations are set and i will be glued to my TV set this summer with all the action happening there in Austria and switzerland .

Results of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for professional courses are being announced tomorrow(May 24) .
The results to be announced at 11 am at the KEA office will be made available to the students in the afternoon through website at 12 noon, said Pre-University Education Commissioner S.G. Hegde.
The results will be announced at all the 218 centres at 1 pm.
Earlier results were scheduled for announcement on May 14 itself. The same was postponed due to delay in the announcement of CBSE and ICSE results, he said.

Whether you are a 10th class student or a 12th class ,an engineering aspirant or a medical ,get ready ...The results are about to come ,the outcome of your year long pre paration will be shortly announced .

Starting with board result ,10th class results are expected to be declared on 27th of this month whereas 12th results are expected this week (probably 23rd of this month ) .Nervous ???

While writing this blog ,i remember my time when i was expecting my results ,even i knew that i have done my papers well ,negative thoughts kept coming in my mind .But on the day of my 10th board results ,everything went fine .I got around 91% .When 12th results came ,i was bit experienced by that time ,so it was no tension at all .

But borad results are of no importance for engineering and medical aspirants as everything depends on their entrance exam results .This is really a tough time for guys and even i will say its not easy tackling the pressure .When you write papers like IIT-JEE,AIEEE(All India Engineering Entrance Examination ) AIIMS,CBSE-PMT you are compared on a national level.You are competing with all the students from all different parts of the country .Around 9lakh student registered in AIEEE for around 10 thousand seats ,this shows the amount of competition in India .Even a single mistake in the paper can make you pay heavily as ranks vary like thousand seats per single mark in such situation.

So following are the expected dates of results

AIEEE- on or before 7th june (My prediction -It will be declared a day before )

IIT-JEE-30th May (When they declare dates ,they are meant to be taken seriously,it will surely come on 30th may ,around 11 am -due to traffic load )

CBSE AIPMT-Prelims results were out on 15th april ,For mains dont rely on their date -News on TV and newspaper is the best information

DCE-around 14th june (1 or 2 days earlier before their date is my prediction -this happens always)

So which is the latest mobile phone in town -Nokia's N81 ,N82 ,Samsung's G600,G800 or Sony Ericsson's W580i ,not to forget the new Moto Razer and LG's KU990 Viewty . The debate will go on and to decide which is the best among these will never be easy .At the end of the day it is the user's priority and choice which makes it the best for him. Yesterday i saw N82 and found it quite fascinating .Went to the store and got the info. about the phone ,did some research and found that this is the phone to look for in mere future .

But if this phone is being liked by most of the people ,some people are dont ranking it high .Some says that the model is copied from sony ericssons' phone ,Other says that even if night resolution is good we should better go for a Digicam when we are looking for such good resolution.

According to me following are the disadvantages of this phone --

*Below average GPS performance
*Extra charges apply for voice assisted navigation
*No RDS for the FM radio
*No office documents editing application
*Controversial design and questionable ergonomics
*Doesn't charge off USB

Still i will say its a complete Multimedia phone with all possible features as compared to previous models because this disadvanteges are mere a subject of personal choice and most of the users might not be interested in these features.In the coming days Nokia N82 will be the Nokia's answer to the world of Multimedia phone .

Improvements in the pass percentage have been observed in the results of the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Examination Council, which were declared today. A comparison of the pass percentage of the last ten years showed this year’s as the best, with the highest climb in performance recorded in the Science stream. The pass percentage in the Arts stream was 65.33 per cent, noticeable improvement over 61.50 per cent registered last year. A total of 1,37,270 candidates took the test out of which 5,882 achieved first division, 21,397 got second division and 62,400 were placed in third division. Among regular candidates, the pass percentage of male students was 69.98 and that of female students was 68.52 per cent.Significantly it was a candidate from Nalbari, Mukul Haloi, who appeared in the examination as “institutional private”, and secured the coveted top rank in the examination. His total marks stood at 449. In the Science stream, Anindita Borah of Salt Brook Academy with Nitul Khataniar of Cotton College occupied the first rank. Each of them scored 456 out of 500 marks.The pass percentage in the Science stream was 80.73, markedly higher than last year’s 68.44 percent and 72.52 per cent of 2006. Of the total 15,093 candidates, 4,629 attained first division, 6,368 passed in second division, and 1,188 got third division.

The results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate exam (Class XII) and Secondary School Certificate exam (Class X) conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations, which were held recently, are likely to be declared on May 10 and May 24, respectively.
According to the information provided by the sources at the Goa Board, the Class XII results would be declared well ahead of the Goa Common Entrance Test 2008, for admissions to various professional courses are tentatively scheduled to be held on May 14 and 15.
The sources, however, said that that though all the arrangements have been made by the board authorities to declare the results on May 10 and May 24, respectively, they could be deferred by a couple of days to May 12 and May 24, respectively, in case of any unforeseen reasons.

Harbhajan banned from IPL

It seems Harbhajan can’t get out of all controversies unscathed. The latest “slapping” controversy has proved costly for Harbhajan with the Match Refree slapping an 11-match ban on Bhajji. That effectively ends his IPL stint. And I’m inclined to say he deserved it.
This is not the first time Bhajji’s behaved like a 8-year old. Slapping folks is absurd behaviour in the game of cricket. I mean if you have something to say, let your bowling do the talking. Its stupid to get aggressive. I mean, agression is a part of cricket, and we’ve all agreed to draw the line at “sledging”. Say whatever you want, but absolutely no physical contact. The captains even signed a “spirit of the game” declaration at the start of the tournament, and the BCCI had made it abundantly clear right from the start that this kind of nonsense will not be tolerated. They’ve decided to make an example of Bhajji.
This has gone on for far too long with Bhajji. The controversy in Australia was border-line, and the Indian firmly stood behind him. But he’s been pushing his luck too far. This time he turned on one of his own. Absolutely unacceptable. Some folks in the blogosphere have made this about Sreeshant. The argument is that he behaved melodramatically with the crying and all. But that is beside the point. How Sreeshant reacted is a separate matter, and it doesn’t reduce the magnitude of what Harbhajan did. He totally deserved it.
The Australian media have predictably picked this up and flashed it all over. They’re still bitter (with some justtification) over the “maa ki - monkey” incident, and they’re eager to hang him for it. Well, he bought this upon himself.
Now this leaves the Mumbai Indians in a precarious situation. Sachin is still out injured, and they’ve lost 4 out of 4 games. Harbhajan’s outster couldn’t have come at a worse time.

It was hard to see the team which you support losing on the last ball of the match .The match played at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi) between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils was really exciting and thrilling until the last ball of the match was bowled. The Chennai Super Kings defeated the Delhi Daredevils by 4 wickets.
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. Delhi Daredevils started their Innings with a strong foundation. The opener Gautham Gambhir scored a brilliant 80 runs off 49 balls (11 boundaries and 1 sixer). The team’s skipper Sehwag scored 23 runs off 18 balls. Ab de Villiers was dismissed for a duck. Dhawan played a knock of 59 runs off 46 balls (6 boundaries and 2 sixers). At the end of 20 overs, Delhi Daredevils scored a challenging 187 runs.
Chasing the huge target of 188 runs, the Chennai Super Kings started their Innings thru their openers Vidyut and Fleming. Both the batsmen ensured to pile up quick runs for their team’s victory. Vidyut scored 40 runs off 23 balls (6 boundaries and 1 sixer) and Fleming scored 44 runs off 28 balls (7 boundaries). Dhoni scored a decent 33 runs. At one point of time Dhoni’s bat was broken in McGrath’s delivery. Morkel’s fast 30 runs off 15 balls (2 boundaries and 3 sixers) was a breakthrough for Chennai Super Kings in the last few overs of the match which helped them to reach the target. The Chennai Super Kings met their target in the last ball of the innings and won the match by 4 wickets. Dhoni was surprisingly declared the Man of the Match even though there were 2 other batsmen who surpassed his score.
Delhi should not worry about this defeat and should carry on and beat the Rajasthan Royals and prove that they are the best team to claim this title ..

IPL is now a matter of pride for the owners as business persons like vijay mallaya ,mukesh ambani are in the race ,not to forget bollywood personalities like Shahrukh khan and priety zinta. So a team like Royal bangalore challengers performing so bad with Mr Vijay Mallaya as its owner ,it was quite clear that something was coming from his side .I was wondering how long the hyper-businessman Vijay Mallya was going to take the dismal performance of the Bangalore Royal Challangers. I’m sure Dravid must have gotten a talking down, but it seems that the CEO of the team, Charu Sharma, bore the brunt of Mallya’s anger. He stepped down as the CEO of the team this morning.
Of course, the official statement is that he had to step down because of “personal reasons”, but I have a feeling that the “personal reason” was that Mallya asked him to resign personally.
Well, I can’t even get myself to feel sorry for Charu Sharma. I still don’t understand what a CEO is doing in a cricket team! So will the sacking help the team or now they will sack the coach .
Mr. Mallaya ,please sack the players as they are the ones not performing what the CEO has to do with it ...

More money coming to IPL next year

IPL ,the indian Premier League ,where huge amount of money has already been invested by their owners this year will see a hike in their salary cap per team .The $5 million salary cap per team that has been imposed this first season is all set to be lifted from next year, according to reports in NDTV today. The original reason the salary caps were imposed were to prevent the rich owners (read Mallya, Mukesh Ambani) from buying up all the top players at once.
But half-way through the first season, it is clear that money won’t buy you wins, and thats the reason the IPL committee has probably decided to do away with the salary caps from next year. This is good news for several of the international players, who’re going to see their salaries sky-rocket by about 6-7 times next season. Hayden is quoted by NDTV saying “From what I have heard, some of the stuff (payments) this year could be just the tip of the iceberg”.
And the salaries are also just the tip. At the end of the season, you can bet your life that the winning stars are going to be showered with advertising campaigns, and the best performing international players will start trying to sell us shampoos and soaps. So lets see whether this hike brings more fascinating cricket or not ...

Delhi DareDevils -The team I am supporting

With eight teams competing with all having some great internation stars in their team ,its going to be tough to decide who will take the trophy ,but my favourite team to win the trophy this year would be the Delhi Daredevils . I think they have a very well balanced team, and more importantly, plenty of options to shuffle players around to match the opposition’s strengths and weaknesses.
The Batting line up is absolutely solid. Lead by Virender Sehwag, who playes test matches just like he plays Twenty20 matches, the team also has the services of Gautam Gambhir and Manoj Tiwary. Tiwary is not well known in the ODI circles, but has demonstrated a very powerful bat in first class cricket, scoring 1000 runs in less 14 matches at an average of 56. Incidentally, the GMR owned team thought it appropriate to pay him a salary of $ 675,000! Even Shikhar Dhawan, who’s just 22, top scored in the ‘04 U-19 world cup. And they even have Tillakaratne Dilshan, who’s more than handy with the bat.
The Delhi Team also has the services of Dinesh Karthik, who will also serve as the primary wicketkeeper (AB de Villers is only part-time keeper). The thing I really like about the Delhi Team is that they’ve got a bunch of batsman/part time bowlers that can really change strategy on the fly. I mean, think about it - You have a bunch of batsman like deVillers, Daniel Vettori, Shoaib Malik in additional to the regular line up who can come in for 2-3 overs and smash the ball around. And then, Sehwag can have his pick of 7-8 bowlers and shuffle them around like crazy to upset the opposition’s rhythm.
The only problem I see is that Delhi are lacking a serious pace attack, if it comes down to that. The aging Glenn McGrath and Mohammad Asif are the only 2 recognized pacers. I can’t help but get the feeling that the fast bowlers are going to be key in the Twenty20 format in India. The Indian batsman, who’ll probably dominate the opposition team’s batting lineup, will feel right at home facing spinners. The pace attack will hold the key, especially you’re in a hurry to score in the only 20 overs!

The chosen one will get a trophy besides Rs 10 lakh (approx US$25,000). Given the billions of dollars at stake in the league, the Rs 10 lakh prize does sound a bit down-to-earth, considering the winner of the corresponding award in the Indian Cricket League's ongoing Twenty20 tournament gets Rs 40 lakh (approx US$100,000).

Handling cricket(specially an IPL team ) is not easier than handling a big multi-national organization .Its about organizing a team full of players who hardly know each other ,some of them met for the first time and then co-ordinating them as a team to win a tournament .Recently Shahrukh Khan has bought Kolkata's IPL team and he is handling its affairs and it seems from his current reactions (Shoib akhtar controversy ,nad pitch at eden gardens ) that its not so easy handling cricket .
Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood actor and owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, talks about concerns over entertainment tax in an interview with the Times of India.

My only concern is that stadium authorities keep asking us for more money like the entertainment tax and we were told that they have been paid by BCCI but they still keep asking us. And the kind of money they are asking us to pay as entertainment tax which will be only for 10 minutes that too during the match break which will cost us at least Rs 1 crore.
Meanwhile, a petitioner from Faridabad has filed a Public Interest Litigation with India's Supreme Court, asking whether the telecast of matches involving the Bangalore Royal Challengers would indirectly be promoting alcohol.
This is because the Challengers' logo is similar to the Royal Challenge alcohol brand owned by Vijay Mallya, the team's owner. The petitioner was banking on the Indian Cable Network Act, 1995, which bans advertisements for alcohol, to drive home his point. The litigation comes up for hearing on April 21.

With the current way cricket is being played and the amount of glamour involved ,its looking that cricket is losing its importance over these things .Recent example is IPL (Indian premier League ) where emphasis on Cheerleaders and bollywood is more than on the players .People talk about Shahrukh khan's team not of ganguly's .We can see Vijay mallya along with Katrina kaif cheering for Bangalore but we cant see Rahul Dravid and others .Actor Akshay Kumar doing bungee jumping and all other circus stunts and the crowd is loving it .
More important "CHEERLEADERS " , cheerleaders were never ever used in cricket before the coming of T20 cricket .Does cricket need cheerleaders for its popularity ?? At the end of the day a cricket lover comes to a ground to watch cricket not those girls dancing here and there. Actually cricket is very popular in a country like India and it needs no further introduction.Cheerleaders should not be an important part and it should focus more on the players who run the game ,at the end of the day Cricket is a fascinating sport and its much much hotter than those cheerleaders ....

This question has to come some day because of the immense popularity on IPL in India and also in other cricket playing nations .20-20 overs format means 3 hours of fast non-stop hitting of ball and sending them consistently cross the boundary ropes .Here the batsman ha no time to settle as his team has only 20 overs to bat and thus hard hitters of cricket ball are normally included in the team .
A general audience loves to watch this type of cricket where they can see maximum number of fours and sixes .Twenty -20 generally ends with a close finish which makes it thrilling to watch .As it is only 3 hour match ,people who dont have much time but love this sport can follow this and enjoy their favourite sport.

So what about one-day cricket and test match !!!
Is it the start of an end of those forms of cricket ??
It depends upon the people who love this sport and those having sound knowledge of it generally like test cricket very much.Test cricket was the origin of cricket and it has given rise to batsmen like Don Bradman,Sunil Gavaskar,Gary Sobers ,Vivian Richards and bowlers like Kapil Dev,Joel garnar ,Goeff Thomson etc. Test cricket is still considered the most important form of cricket and i dont think it will vanish so early .
